From the farm🌿 to the pharm by Joseph Remy | The name "Happy Pharms" derived from the idea that modern "pharmaceuticals" ought to actually heal you. Our concept of natural healing literally "came naturally" after i discovered many of the pharmaceutical drugs i had been taking for years could be replaced with over the counter herbal supplements. That's where my journey with cannabis began in 2018.

My name is Joseph Remy, and I was born in North Miami Beach, Florida. At the age of two, my family relocated to the small town of Bell, FL, where I spent my childhood. In 2004, I enrolled at PK Yonge Developmental Research School and graduated in 2006. I initially pursued a degree in Building Construction and Technology at Santa Fe College, but soon realized that college wasn't the right fit for me. In 2007, I left school and began working as an electrician apprentice. Later, I took a more lucrative position as a chip-runner in a poker room, but was laid off in 2008 due to the recession.

During this period of instability, I received the devastating news that my father had cancer. My relationship with him was complex, and his passing had a profound impact on me, serving as a wake-up call. I realized I was drifting aimlessly and needed to make a change, but I lacked the tools and guidance to do so. Fortunately, a close friend, recently separated from the Air Force, provided the information I needed to take my next steps.

In 2009, I joined the Air Force as an Aerospace Ground Equipment technician. From October 19, 2009, until May 28, 2018, I had the privilege of serving my country, which included three deployments and a year-long tour in Korea. This experience allowed me to explore the world, meet extraordinary people, and grow both personally and professionally. My dedication was recognized with two Achievement Medals, a Commendation Medal, and an early promotion to Senior Airman Below the Zone (BTZ). Among my proudest accomplishments was receiving the Diamond Sharp award from the First Sergeants Association, a testament to the responsibility and trust placed in me by my superiors.

In 2017, after my final deployment, my wife Stephanie and I decided it was time to slow down. Multiple injuries had taken their toll, and I was ready to separate from the Air Force with an honorable discharge at the eight-year mark. However, a chance encounter with Mr. Sacramento, an expert in the Medical Evaluation System for Airmen, changed my perspective. He advised me to extend my contract by six months to undergo a Medical Evaluation Board, potentially leading to retirement due to medical conditions rather than a regular discharge.

After careful consideration, I consulted with doctors and decided to follow his advice. Seven months later, I retired from the Air Force on medical grounds. Looking back, I realize that if I hadn't taken this step, I might not have received the necessary medical treatment or the ongoing support from the VA that I rely on today.

In 2021, I discovered the potential of cannabis to alleviate many of my ailments. Excited by the possibility, I obtained a license to cultivate my own plants. After a period of anticipation, I was granted the privilege to grow hemp in Florida. Recognizing the state's potential as a leading CBD producer, Stephanie and I founded Happy Pharms LLC.

However, our plans were met with challenges in Bell. In July 2022, as we prepared to launch our CBD business full-time, my occupation permit application was initially rejected due to an outdated ordinance that mistakenly grouped CBD, hemp, and marijuana together. Despite our efforts to educate the town council on the 2018 Farm Bill, they insisted that I present my case at the next council meeting. Determined to succeed, I gathered over 300 signatures in support of our business and attended the meeting with a team of presenters and a prominent sign listing the names of our supporters. That evening, we were granted our permit, and it has been smooth sailing ever since.

Today, I dedicate my time to my family and the growth of Happy Pharms on our property. Our mission is to provide high-quality CBD products to those who might otherwise lack access. We're proud to have attracted visitors to our website from over 27 states and internationally, including the UK, Bangladesh, France, and Germany. We've also served customers across the U.S., from Florida to New York.
